How to Mix Investment and Budget-Friendly Items

Pink Lace Dress for Fall

Pink Lace Dress | Louis Vuitton Speedy 30 | Stuart Weitzman Heels | Sunglasses (similar) As a girl on a budget, I understand the importance of mixing investment pieces with more budget- friendly options. I go into great details regarding our budget and the process to complete it every month, here. If you have no idea where to start on a monthly budget, it’s a must read. That’s the best starting point! With a budget in mind, it’s important to balance key pieces that will last a lifetime with fun, frilly budget-friendly items to complete the look. For me, investment pieces include a great neutral bag, a simple pair of nude heels and jeans that fit properly (for me, that is strictly AG Jeans). With one of these three items at play (or all three), the rest of the outfit is easy to build around the investment piece/s. For instance, I selected two of my key pieces and paired them with a lace dress that’s under $35 above. Although investment pieces are highly dependent on personal preference, here are a few points to consider when you’re wondering if you should splurge or save: Longevity of the item: When selecting investment pieces, you want to always lean […]

Living Room Tour

Living Room Tour

Faux Longhorn (similar) | Console (similar) | Coffee Table (similar) | Large Abstract Painting (similar) | Couch (similar) | Faux Cowhide Pillows (similar) | Striped Poufs | Lamp (almost identical) Our living room is the HUB of the house! Whether we’re drinking coffee during an early weekday morning or watching SEC football on a Saturday, more often than not Mack and I can found on the couch in our living room. I saw an image on Pinterest the other day that stated how childhood punishments such as, being grounded {aka forced to stay home} and going to bed early, are now what dreams are made of. I couldn’t agree more as I am happiest when I am planted on this couch with Mack, Rebel and Tiger by my side. Best feeling in the entire world, I swear! I am sure many of you can relate. With a busy life, it’s great to decompress and there’s no better place to do just that than in your living room with the perfect candle burning. As previously mentioned in a few of my home posts, our house offers a very open concept but is just over 1,000 square feet! With a small space that flows, keeping the decor cohesive is […]

Mixing Seasons

Mixing Seasons

Waffle Stitch Sweater | Jean Shorts | Clutch (similar) | Sunglasses (similar) | Peep Toe Booties Pumpkins made their debut at local grocery stores this weekend and it was pushing 90 degrees here on Florida’s Emerald Coast! I am craving fall but thankful that I can still go to the beach, walk the dogs without a jacket and continue my Sunday afternoon bike rides well into September. It’s all about balance! I picked up this waffle stitch sweater during the Nordstrom Sale and wanted to work it into my weekend wardrobe. I did just that by pairing fall staples like this tank sweater and peep toe booties with jean shorts and a neutral clutch to satisfy my need for fall in the midst of hot and humid temperatures. I am not going to lie, I was still a little warm but I think it was mostly because we were walking around town- I’ll just tell myself that! How do you incorporate fall textures and tones when the temperatures don’t quite reflect fall? I hope you have a great week! Thanks for starting your week with me!

White Ruffle Sweater with StyleWe

White Ruffle Sweater with StyleWe

White Ruffle Sweater (sold out, similar) | Black Skinny Jeans | Red Mules (similar) | Leopard Clutch (similar) | Sunglasses (similar) Give this girl a pair of red mules, statement sleeves {and earrings} and I am weekend ready! If I had to pick one emoji to describe how I feel every Friday, it would be the flamenco dancer in the red dress… and this is my version of that. This white ruffle sweater from StyleWe is the perfect structured sweater (I am so sad it’s sold out but will continue to check if they restock). Most of the sweaters in my closet are oversized, super comfortable and some even have a turtleneck. I don’t have anything in my closet like this sweater but I am obsessed. I almost think this sweater would be overwhelming if it were any color except white. The off-the-shoulder detail paired with the tiered ruffle sleeves is balanced by the fresh natural tone. Styled here with FUN accessories: tassel earrings, a leopard clutch and red mules, this outfit is the ideal get up for a girl’s night out as temperatures begin to drop. What are your plans this weekend? My Dad is in town so we will probably spend most of our […]

Ruffle Little Black Dress

Ruffle LBD

Ruffle Little Black Dress | Crossbody | Leopard Heels (similar) | Sunglasses (similar) In follow up to Friday’s post, our area was virtually unaffected by Hurricane Irma’s path. I did go to Mississippi for the weekend just to be on the safe side and understand how lucky we are that she didn’t turn just a little more west. With that in mind, so many people in my home state are realizing her devastation as they return home and for them, I am praying! We will help however and whenever we can with relief efforts because we love to call Florida home. It’s truly my favorite place we’ve ever lived. After my most recent trip to HomeGoods, I banned myself for a few weeks! BUT during my last visit, my heart was so happy because not only did they have Halloween decor, they also had Thanksgiving tablescapes, pumpkin everything and my personal favorite, fall candles. With sweater-weather on my mind, I can’t help but get excited for the changing seasons and holidays that are on the horizon. This ruffle little black dress from Target is perfect for work days, holiday parties and more as the seasons greet us with cooler temperatures! It’s no surprise […]

Emerald Green Dress with StyleWe

Emerald Green Dress with StyleWe

Emerald Green Dress | Clutch | Shoes | Sunglasses (similar) | Earrings (similar) My blog has always been a positive outlet for me so in the waiting game to see which way Hurricane Irma will turn {without question}, I decided to do what I know best and stay on my normal blog schedule. I don’t do this to ignore reality and the potential seriousness of this storm because I know it’s projected to devastate. But rather than focus on that, I will look to the good, trust, and know that as long as we’re safe than we already have all we need.  Since there’s no seamless way to transition from Hurricane Irma to fashion, we’re just going to jump right in! Anyone who has followed along here for awhile knows that I am all about versatile items that transition well. I shared this fringe sweater dress recently that will transition well into “sweater weather” on the coast.  I feel the same about this emerald green dress from StyleWe– paired now with suede heels and later with black tights and OTK boots for a holiday party! The cut and material of this dress falls in such a pretty manner. Those features mixed with the bold color […]

Three Steps to Organize Your Closet

3 Steps to Organize Your Closet

Acrylic Storage Bins | Felt Hangers | Three Tier Shoe Rack (similar) I swear that organization changes everything! Whether it be at work or at home, being organized is an asset as it saves time and energy. This past long weekend I went a little crazy and organized our entire house! It’s so funny that after a year of living here, I finally feel moved in! I did a huge overhaul of my closet and with just a few storage items the entire space was transformed. Although my closet is tiny, I have plenty of space as everything has a place! Here are my three steps to organize your closet: Uniform Hangers– When hanging clothes ensure you use the same style/color hangers for each item. I personally prefer the felt hangers in black as my items don’t slip. Furthermore, as much as I would love to use the blush pink felt hangers, I know they’d be impossible to match if I ever needed more. The uniformity of using the same hangers creates a seamless aesthetic when looking at all of your clothing items! Acrylic Storage Bins- These are a game changer! I used to have my clutches and scarves just […]

Labor Day Sales

Labor Day Sales

I hope everyone is enjoying their Labor Day weekend! I certainly have as my weekend has consisted of organizing, decluttering and cleaning every square inch of our home. Sometimes I get into these modes where I want EVERYTHING to look fresh and clean. In this post, I mentioned that I was going to change out some lightbulbs that have been burnt out for longer than I am willing to admit. Well that project spiraled into a deep clean/organization session and I’ve loved getting everything in order! I feel like I am doing fall cleaning, which isn’t really a thing, but I’ve felt productive this weekend and that’s all that matters! Anyways, for those of you taking advantage of your down time by doing a little shopping, I’ve rounded up some sales that conclude as the holiday does too! For your home, One Kings Lane is doing 20% off storewide! This is one of my favorite sites for everything in our home. Snag our storage bench from our master bedroom (under $200!) this weekend for some extra savings. You can see our entire Master Bedroom tour, here. My dress from this post is 50% off (shop all ShopBop sale, here)! Although I’ve […]

Frayed Hem Jeans for Labor Day

Exaggerated Frayed Hem Jeans

Button Up & Jeans: Blush Destin | Sunglasses (similar) | Crossbody | Red Mules (similar) Is it too soon to be thinking about Labor Day weekend? Probably. But I am going for it anyway! The official end to summer is almost here and although the temperatures would suggest otherwise in Florida, we’ve had a few cool mornings this week that have been extremely refreshing. As summer bids its farewell I wanted to suggest some ways to spend the precious three day weekend: Staycation– Taking a vacation can be more trouble than it’s worth, especially when it’s just over a three day period. Opt to stay local instead and try to see your hometown through the eyes of someone who is visiting. I am working on a new post for you all about the area where we live and I plan to do just that! Home Touch-Ups– I am not kidding when I tell you that three of the four lightbulbs in our kitchen have been burnt out for MONTHS. Embarrassing I know. I plan to utilize some extra time I have this weekend to complete some much needed home touch-ups if you will- like changing light bulbs. I will probably do a Home Goods run […]

Dresser Update in 30 Minutes or Less

Dresser Update in 30 Minutes or Less

Manor House Knob | Bauble Knob | Shop all Knobs Before I start talking about a home project, I want to say that my thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by Hurricane Harvey. Me and my sorority sisters, most all of which live in Texas, have a group text and the photos they shared throughout the weekend are heartbreaking. Here’s to hoping that this storm passes very soon. We all want our home to look like something out of Southern Living but likely don’t have the bank roll to purchase everything that covers those beautiful and perfect magazine spreads. I read a quote recently that stated, “Start with that you have not with what you want.” This quote, although in it’s original context has absolutely  nothing to do with home decor, applies to this little dresser of ours. When Mack and I purchased our home, it came fully furnished. If I am being totally honest, majority of it went to the furniture consignment store as it was a vacation rental before we purchased it. However, a few select pieces held their ground and one of those items was this dresser. You can see our full bedroom here, but as you can […]
