Master Bedroom Tour

Headboard | Duvet Cover | Alternative Down Comforter | Blush Quilt (similar) | Throw Pillows (similar) | Lamps (similar) | Nightstands | Storage Bench | Faux Silver Dear (similar) | Sunburst Mirror (similar) Bedtime is my favorite time. Hands down! You can see how I wind down after a long day in this post here, so I won’t delve into that much more. Our bedroom is so comfortable and cozy, even Rebel and Tiger couldn’t help but make an appearance in today’s post. They always snooze on our bed but any excuse to snap a pic these puppies and I’ll do it. Plus, if you follow me on Instagram, you may wonder why Tiger isn’t in my stories much. He literally won’t. sit. still. for anything! This was post-walk and a rare occasion when he actually laid down to rest. Anyways, when it came to decorating our bedroom, which was actually one of the first rooms to be completed, I wanted it to be simple and serene yet in line with our original vision for the house. If you’re new to my blog, the theme for our home is western chic of sorts with “cowboy” touches (think cowhides, faux taxidermy, etc.) in conjunction with a mix of gold […]

Patio Furniture Update

Patio Update

Converstation Set | Poufs | Pillows Big changes came to the Griffin household this weekend… we finally updated our patio furniture! Back in March, I shared this patio inspiration as we knew we wanted to invest in comfortable outdoor furniture to utilize our outdoor space. We are so happy with how it turned out! We decided on this simple conversation set (we got four chairs), bold pillows and striped poufs. We honestly sat outside all weekend and it was amazing! I mentioned in this dining room post that our home is pretty small yet perfect for us. With the ability to enjoy our patio, our home feels so much larger now! We feel like we literally extended the space. As we sat sipping cocktails on Saturday night, it was like our home took on a whole new world. Not to mention, Rebel and Tiger LOVE it! Unfortunately, this week greeted us with a tropical storm of sorts so for now, our crisp white pillows are indoors haha (#reallife). But we are just anxiously awaiting the next time we can sit out there and enjoy the fresh air and each others company. As our weekend came to a close on our patio, I said to Mack, […]

How to Create a Desk Nook

How to Create a Desk Nook

Desk | Chair | Pillow | Computer | Agenda When we purchased our home, we downsized from what we had previously rented. We love it so much as it’s just enough space! At just about 1,300 square feet we are maxed out with just two bedrooms. With the absence of a designated office space, we had to get creative about how to situate a desk area in accordance with an open floor plan. Luckily, this little corner of our living room, previously occupied by additional seating, had the potential. Referred to as the “desk nook” this area is bright yet secluded and out of the way (well, as out of the way as it could be haha). Also, I really enjoy working here because Mack can work on the couch and we’re still in the same room! This area, although perhaps not in line with our décor parameters (see our dining room here), works for us. We wanted to have a little fun with the desk nook because we could! I found this painting at a local store and have never had art “speak to me” until I met this piece haha. It’s a little quirky yet modern with its stark […]

Dining Table (similar) | Dining Chairs (similar) | Cowhide Rug (similar) | Buffet (similar) | Ginger Jars (similar) | Gold Urchin (similar) | Bar Cart (similar) | Acrylic Wine Holder | Books (here, here, here & here) | Candle I’ve learned that the best part of home ownership is not the home itself but rather the family and friends that can come gather, stay awhile and enjoy our space with us. Since moving in, both of our families have come to visit on a few occasions and although our home is on the smaller side, there’s always room for more! Our dining room is a space that enables those guests to sit and relax, enjoy a meal and just catch up. Also, this table is a place where Mack and I sit and catch up after work. With our busy, sometimes conflicting schedules, it’s a treat when we get to talk about our days over a meal at our dining room table! When it came time to decorate this space, we determined early on a few key pieces that we wanted it to include but had to take time to find and decide on what we liked best. In determining the […]

Spring Refresh at Home

Spring Refresh at Home

Blush Curtains | Boxwood Wreath | Welcome Mat | Pom Pom Pillow | Picture Frame | Blush Ikat Pillow | Pom Pom Basket Much like a closet that needs a quick refresh as the seasons change, our homes could use a mini update as well to welcome warmer temps! As the days grow longer, I find myself tucking away those faux fur blankets for lighter options, adding some subtle color to the nooks of our home and always update the front porch to offer a fresh hello! A few quick and easy additions to your home for spring time can really breath new life into any space! First, I plan to take action asap and update the wreath on our front door with this seasonal boxwood. We’ve had a monogrammed “G” hanging on our door for over two years so I want to try something new. Also, I am going to get a new welcome mat as our current one is very worn out (so much so that you can’t read what it says anymore). I am confident that these two simple updates will spruce our curb appeal! Next, I plan to bring some lighter elements into our guest bedroom! We […]

Spring Cleaning Tips

Spring Cleaning Tips

Did everyone have a good weekend? I feel totally refreshed this Monday and I am thankful for that! After a few weeks of an unrelenting schedule and a weekend trip to Miami, I was so glad to just be home this weekend. On Friday morning I had a few hours off and immediately replaced my workout with cleaning the house, naturally! I tend to clean the house top to bottom at least once a week (and we have some daily cleaning that we do as well to keep things tidy) but due to my schedule, it got away from me for an extended period of time. With April arriving, I thought what better time for a cleaning overhaul. I don’t know what it is about cleaning but it makes me feel relaxed yet very productive. I love the feeling of a clean house, especially at the start of a new month! Here’s what I did on Friday to start April off on the right clean foot. Focus on the floors first: I am sure there is some kind of flow-chart on Pinterest that shows you the correct order in which to clean your home. But for me, I always like to start […]

Patio Inspiration

Patio Inspiration

Outdoor String Lights | Striped Patio Set (under $500!) | Outdoor Rug | Spotted Pillow | Pineapple Pillow | Neutral Pillow (here & here) I mentioned in this post that Mack and I plan to update our patio here soon! What I failed to mention in that post is that the adirondock chairs currently residing on our patio are lime green, yes you read that right. Now there’s nothing wrong with that if green is your style (and it was the style of the previous homeowners). However, as we’ve transitioned a once beach rental home into our permanent home, we’ve gone with neutrals and touches of pink pretty much throughout the whole house! Over time, those green chairs have become more of an eye sore as the rest of our home has come together! The one factor… patio furniture is so expensive. We were chatting with a friend the other day about just how expensive it is and how you never just need two chairs for a patio- you need the set and some cute outdoor decor which adds up quickly. Let’s just add that to the ever growing list of things no one ever told us about #adulting. Alas, the lime green […]

How to be a Morning Person

How to be a Morning Person

Acrylic Chair | Faux Fur Pillow | Coffee Mugs | Marble Coaster (similar) | Notebook (similar) | Agenda If waking up yesterday after Spring Forward left you feeling sleepy all day, you’re not alone! Although I’ve always been one to LOVE sleep, learning how to wake up early is truly something that takes a few solid weeks or even months of doing so before it sets in. However, I’ve found that I am most productive in the morning so it’s crucial for me to get an early start and then have some leniency in the afternoon beacause my mind is pretty much on OFF. Even as I write this post in the late afternoon, I am kicking myself for not completing it earlier in the day. I touched base on my nightly routine here, so now I want to share my morning routine and some key tips to get outta that bed (so hard sometimes, I know!). Here’s what I’ve learned: Don’t hit snooze– We’ve all heard this before and while some of us commit to it for a New Years resolution or during Lent, not everyone can get started. At first, I set two alarms, one a 6:00 am […]

Three Must-Have Items to Organize a Vanity

Organize Your Vanity

Storage: Necklace Holder (similar) | Acrylic Bracelet Organizer (similar) | Acrylic Drawers (similar)  I showed you all a sneak peek of my vanity in our guest bedroom post a few weeks ago! This furniture was handed down to us by my parents after living in their shed for like 20 years. Mack painted it with the help of his Dad and I think it’s just adorable. Since moving, I’ve turned this piece into my vanity area where I store or rather display all of my jewelry. I used to keep all of my jewelry tucked away in one of my dresser drawers… don’t ask me why. When it was out of sight, it was also out of mind. Rarely would I go into my jewelry drawer (which honestly resembled a junk drawer) to accessorize my outfits. Once our guest bedroom was finished, I took the the vanity to get organized and better display and utilize my jewelry. It has made a world of difference! Here are three items that I found especially helpful as I organized my vanity: Necklace Bar: A necklace bar is essential to store not only those big statement necklaces but more importantly the dainty necklaces that tangle easily. I […]

How to Share a Small Bathroom

How to Share a Small Bathroom

Storage Baskets (similar) | All products linked below Sharing a small space of any kind can certainly pose its challenges. But when it comes to sharing a small bathroom there seems to be a world of issues; products everywhere, fighting for time at the sink, and doing the tango to avoid those you’re sharing the space with. I learned early on from sorority house living to now living with my husband, sharing a bathroom is truly an art form- it takes patience and dedication haha. Here are some tricks to share a small bathroom with ease: Organize EVERYTHING– Bathrooms are tough to organize… between toothpaste, towels and the variety of other toiletries we reach for daily it can cause quite the mess. I never really considered this when the bathroom was all my own! All of my products had their perfect spot on the counter and in the medicine cabinet ready to be used at my beck and call. Fast forward to dorm living followed by sorority house residency and I was at a loss of space for all of my essentials on a countertop that was no longer my own and the absence of a medicine cabinet all together. I found immediately […]
