Fringe Sweater Dress

Sweater Dress Now and Later

Sweater Fringe Dress (sold out) | Clutch (almost identical) | Wedges | Sunglasses | Earrings (similar) Something about this week (I am looking at you, solar eclipse) made this week feel so long! Needless to say, I am so glad it’s Friday and I am ready to wind down this weekend. One of my best friends from college is on a family vacation just down the street from us and I am looking forward to catching up with her! Anyways, I picked up this fringe sweater dress a few weeks ago from Fuss, a local boutique in Watercolor, and was immediately drawn to the fringe hem. The knit material, although still light, gives the illusion of a sweater dress deeming it perfect as we transition seasons. Living in Florida, the “fall” won’t hit for a few more months. While everyone else is embracing sweater weather, I will opt for this dress instead and enjoy the off-season to the fullest here on the coast. How do you prepare for sweater weather? I hope you have a great weekend. Thank you so much for reading today.

Workwear Staples Under $100

Workwear Staples Under $100

Midi Dress | Blazer | Lace Blouse | Black Dress | Grey Blouse | Tote Bag | Block Heels | Flats | Tailored Pants Workwear is heavily dependent on company culture! I’ve worked in a number of different settings, each requiring it’s own specific wardrobe. However, I believe there are a few key pieces that any working girl needs on hand in her closet! For me, those universal items include a midi dress, a conservative black dress, functional blazer, dainty lace blouse easy for layering, long sleeve grey blouse (because offices are always cold!), go-to pair of black tailored pants, block heels, flats and a carry-all tote bag. I believe with these key items, dressing for the workday is made easy depending on what the day holds. For a day at the office, I usually opt for a dress and flats as that’s most comfortable for me wear all day. If we are out of the office, I try to dress up a little more pulling together my black pants, a blouse layered under a blazer and a pair of block heels. When in doubt, dress to impress! These staples (all under $100) present a professional appearance in that they’re conservative, feature […]

A Girl's Best Friend: Rebel & Tiger

Rebel (morkie, 4 years old) & Tiger (yorkie, 2 years old) goDog Toys | Kong Toys | No-Hide Sticks | Dog Food Storage | Travel Carrier As I type this post Rebel is asleep on the couch and snoring… I wish you all could hear it. Sweetest thing ever! I mentioned in this post that I may do a post about my sweet boys so here it is! Both of their birthdays are in August, exactly one week apart so I figured I would highlight them since they deserved to be spoiled all month long. Mack would tell you that every month is their birthday month however haha. Let me start this post by saying that to me, a house is not a home without a dog, or in our case dogs! They bring me so much joy from the minute I wake up until we snuggle into bed at night. I know that people with pets understand this feeling so I won’t bore you with that for too long! In honor of their birthday month I’d like to share our favorite products for Rebel and Tiger (most often referred to as, “the boys”): Play- We give them goDog toys as they last the longest. They […]

Flower Print Cold-Shoulder Dress

Flower Print Cold Shoulder Dress

Flower Print Cold-Shoulder Dress | Wedges | Crossbody | Sunglasses Life on the Emerald Coast is returning to normal now that school is back in session. Traffic has died down, the rental units around our home have gone dark and there are parking spots again. I am in my happy place once again! With school back in session.. the college football season is near! Being that we still live in SEC country, the excitement is building! I am not a huge football fan by any means. I can’t tell you who the players are or what’s going on in the game but I do know how to tailgate. And for those of you familiar with Ole Miss and The Grove you know that we never lose a party. And thank goodness for that because there’s some hearsay that the Rebs may need a little help this year. But here’s to hoping! Anyways, when I was at Ole Miss my Dad would get beyond irritated with me because I would never go to the football stadium to watch the game. Instead, I would camp out in The Grove with my sorority sisters and just enjoy every Saturday down South. With The Grove clearly […]

Newport, RI Wedding

Newport RI Wedding

Photo Credit: KB Digital Designs Over the past several weeks I mentioned on more than one occasion that I was attending my cousin’s wedding in Newport, RI. It was last month and everything about it was perfect! From her dress (that BOW!) to the Groom’s party shoes for the reception, no detail was over looked. With that in mind, and because she’s like a sister to me, I asked her if she’d like to take over the blog to share about her wedding. She graciously accepted and without further ado, I’ll turn it over to the new Mrs., Larisa Bright! …And they lived happily ever after {with their dog}. Our wedding day was my absolute favorite day ever! I was lucky enough to marry my best friend and we were surrounded by more love than I can ever explain. My husband, Murphy, and I were married on July 15th in Newport, RI. Being a bit of a control freak, wedding planning was perfect for me as I love details. When I first started to plan our big day, Christina was my go-to resource to set me on the right track and then I was off! I’m so excited about this guest post […]

Engagement Gift Ideas

Engagement Gift Ideas

Mr. & Mrs. Wine Glasses (almost identical, I love these here too!) | Napkins (similar) | Glitter Champagne One wedding concludes and we have another to look forward to just like that! I’ve found that as my friends have moved to every corner of the country, weddings are the easiest way to get everyone together. With the Rhode Island wedding concluding (my cousin, Larisa is taking over the blog this Wednesday to share about her big day!), we now have a California wedding to look forward to. Although it’s sad to live far from friends, we sure do love to travel to celebrate along side them! I recently sent our well wishes to the newly engaged couple and decided on this adorable set of wine glasses, napkins to commemorate the celebration and a cute card. I decided to get “Mr.” and “Mrs.” glasses as opposed to something “soon to be,” so they can be used past the wedding day. In the past, I’ve also sent a glittery bottle of champagne to newly engaged couples because everyone needs one on their bar cart. If  you prefer a personalized option, Etsy is the best for personalized engagement and wedding gifts alike! Finally, if you just […]

Straw Kitten Clutch

Straw Kitten Clutch

Blouse (sold out, similar) | Jeans | Wedges | Sunglasses | Kitten Clutch I am the first to say that I am a dog person! So much so that I feel like I offend people with children sometimes when I talk about my dogs like they’re people (but they are so…). Anyone who knows me or who has followed along here for awhile knows that Rebel and Tiger, named after Ole Miss and LSU, are my tiny doggies that think they’re kings of the castle. Rebel is a morkie (maltese and yorkie) and Tiger is a full yorkie, well at least we think he is haha. They are very sweet boys and both have birthdays this month! I may just have to do a post about them and what products I love for them. We shall see! Anyways, with the summer season on it’s way out, I am trying to work warm weather elements such as this straw clutch into my casual outfits before the temps cool down. Luckily, that doesn’t happen until about October so I’ve still got some time. I got this precious clutch from Blush Destin and she has just a few left! Until someone creates a puppy […]

Five Greeting Cards to Always Have on Hand

Five Greeting Cards to Always Have

Stationary from Mingle 30A (if you don’t live locally, similar options here and here) | Acrylic Stationary Box The Griffin household is always fully stocked with wine, shipping materials (boxes, packing tape, stamps etc.) and greeting cards. One might think, what about necessities like toilet paper or extra groceries? Not in this house haha. In fact, we almost ran out of TP when we had guests in our home and that was embarrassing. But if anyone needs a glass of wine or to send some form of snail mail, I’ve got you covered. There’s something about quality stationary that I really just love! When selecting greeting cards, I can spend a solid 30 minutes standing in front of the display deciding on which to purchase. Snail mail, although very simple, makes me so happy! I am always excited when I get a handwritten card in our mailbox and I like to share that feeling as often as I can with others. With that in mind, I believe you should always have five greeting cards on hand which include: celebration card, happy birthday card, housewarming card, sympathy card and a blank card (to be used as thank you or miscellaneous event). Life throws us so many curveballs and trust me, there’s […]

Girls’ Guide to Budgeting

Girls Guide to Budgeting

Happy Monday! I am fully fueled by coffee today but we’ll make it. Today’s topic although not the most riveting post I’ve ever written is absolutely necessary to lead a financially responsible life that is not riddled with stress and anxiety. Do you have your espresso/coffee/tea ready? Good, let’s get to it! Let me start by saying I am NOT the poster child of financial matters by any means. In fact, I found myself like most recent college graduates with thousands of dollars in student debt, a barley there salary and a credit card. In my mind I got the credit card for “travel” but instead it turned into my card of FUN that very quickly stopped being fun. It took ONE time of not being able to pay my credit card off in full that I took a step back, signed up for a budgeting class through my church and I’ve never looked back. Has this been an easy process? Certainly not. But do I see the value in literally counting every dollar that comes in and out? YES. It was after watching this Ted Talk that I realized perhaps my process of tracking our spending could help one of you, […]

Last Chance #NSale Finds

Last Chance #NSale Finds

Velvet Kimono | Earrings | Over the Knee Boots | Blanket | Leggings | Leopard Loafers | Candle | Heels | Water Bottles With the Nordstrom sale concluding this Sunday I wanted to share some last chance finds before the prices go up! I went back through the sale thoroughly and although a lot of sizes are running low {so if you see something you love AND they still have it in your size, don’t wait!} I found some great fall staples, homewares, athletic essentials and a few accessories that I know I will reach for again and again. Even better, everything shown above is under $100! With that in mind, I am stocking up! If you’re anything like me, you’ll be closing out this extremely busy work week with a little #retailtherapy! I am so grateful that the weekend is here again! I don’t have much planned other than going to yoga on Saturday and that’s just how I like it. What are your plans? I hope you have a great one!
