Shop Your Closet: Go To White Chunky Sweater

Go To White Chunky Sweater

Chunky Sweater (similar) | Skinny Jeans with Step Hem (almost identical) | Mules | Crossbody Actual thoughts that ran through my head while shooting this outfit in 90 degree weather… “stop trying to make fall happen, it’s not going to happen!” Any Mean Girls fans out there? Just me? Haha real life, I was roasting during this session. Roasting. But we are in week two of my Shop Your Closet series because, well, we ALL have a go-to white sweater in our closet. If you don’t, I linked a very similar option above. A good chunky sweater is great for fall, yes. It’s also great to pack in your tote while traveling, your ride-or-die choice when date night is at the movie theatre (why is it always freezing in there?) and the best for just lounging at home with your leggings on. As cooler months are *supposedly* coming, this outfit is easy to copy with items you most likely have tucked away. And if you’re thinking this outfit looks oddly similar to this outfit, you’d be correct. When it comes to jeans, I really only think you need three pairs max. One good pair of denim skinnies (preferably with a […]

Podcasts I am Currently Loving

Podcast I am Currently Loving

Second Life | Jen Gotch is OK… Sometimes | WorkParty I will admit it… I am late to the podcast game. Before I started to tune in, my thought process was, “how do people have time to listen to podcasts?” But little by little I’ve started to work them into my routine. If I am going on a long drive or have some mindless checklist items, I now opt for a podcast over music. I haven’t explored them much but there are three that I am currently listening to and want to recommend to you! See why below… Podcasts I am Currently Loving Second Life This podcast takes our girl crushes from Instagram and puts a microscope on their success. It’s a real-life chat about where the journey started, road blocks along the way and how it all came together for each featured guest. It’s real, never sugar-coated, and offers tangible take aways from those inspirational people that have already walked the road. So far, my favorite spotlights include, Alli Webb of Drybar and Marianna Hewitt of Summer Fridays. Jen Gotch is OK… Sometimes I am huge fan of Jen Gotch. Her daily insta-stories take me on a BTS look […]

Shop Your Closet: Lace Overlay Romper for Fall

Lace Overlay Romper for Fall

Lace Romper Overlay | Jean Jacket | Louis Vuitton Neverfull (borrowed from Mom) | Sunglasses | LC Lauren Conrad Mules This lace overlay romper may look familiar! I featured this romper over the summer and I am repurposing this closet favorite for the fall season ahead. It is a very realistic thing to shop your closet… we can’t shop all the time. Not even as style bloggers! So, with fall right around the corner, I want to feature a few outfits (over the next several weeks) to suggest a cool-weather spin with items you already own. I hope this will inspire you to inventory your closet and shop it for the new season ahead. First up, this mustard lace overlay romper. Although the mustard color is no longer available, I also adore this romper in “Coral Cedar” and “Green Bug.” Made great for summer styled alone, it’s easy to transition to fall with a signature jean jacket, carry-all tote and neutral mules. If I had to guess, we all have these three simple items already stocked and ready to wear as the leaves begin to change. If you’re heading to a wine festival, harvest concert or date night toward the end […]

How to Determine Your Signature Scent

Signature Scent

Miss Dior A small part of my beauty routine that I haven’t touched on yet is that final spritz! Although I don’t wear my perfume daily, it’s always the finishing touch before date night, for a work day event or girls night. But finding your signature scent can be tricky and you never want to walk away with a scent that isn’t fully YOU! Avoid the return line and opt to use these tips instead. Determine Your Signature Scent Shop by Bottle In anything I share, I can only reference my personal experience. When it came to finding my signature scent, I started by browsing only the bottles I loved most. From there, I narrowed it down by scent. Your signature scent will likely be displayed on your vanity… so it needs to be pretty and display your personality. Miss Dior immediately caught my eye because it’s simple, sweet with the bow, and light pink. You will some really extravagant bottle designs so browse and take note of those that catch your eye! Let the Scent Sit After your favorite bottles are selected, it’s time to swatch the scent on the paper testers offered in-store. This will immediately allow you […]

Where ‘Em Anywhere Tennis Shoes + Rule Breaking

Where 'Em Anywhere Tennis Shoes

Black Dress | Adidas Tennis Shoes | Sunglasses | Gigi Crossbody (almost identical) I’ve honestly never really been one to follow rules. Like, it was a problem as a child. Ask my mom. She always says, “there’s one in every family.” Which is code for my brother was a perfect angel and I was her problem child. But, we’re past that now thankfully (I think?). Although, I find that other commonly accepted rules such as; “you have to work a traditional job,” or “you can’t eat just fruit for dinner,” or even something like, “no white after Labor Day,” simply don’t apply to me. Can you relate? Luckily, I started watching my Digital Pass to the Create & Cultivate Chicago conference yesterday and I am encouraged by other #rulebreakers who are making their way in the world. Some with defined paths, drawing back to moments of success and other just getting started and winging it. In typical fashion, I have to pause the videos to take notes and since it’s the end of the week, I want to share a few nuggets that I found noteworthy (literally). Takeaways for the “Rule Breaker” | Create & Cultivate Chicago Ask What Can […]

Girl Boss Reading List

Girl Boss Reading List

#GirlBoss | Uninvited | Leave Your Mark | Work Party | Lean In | Girl Code Have you ever felt like you just need to hit reset? Social media and I have a love/hate relationship. Mostly, love but a little bit of ughhhh too! So, how do I hit reset? I read. But I find that I can’t finish ANY book unless they’re geared toward entrepreneurship, showcases a success story of a #girlboss or presents faith in an applicable light. Quite the range, I know! Reading, and better yet, being encouraged sans screen time, is what I’ve been craving lately. Below you’ll find my version of a Girl Boss reading list (one is not pictured because I mailed it to my cousin). Girl Boss Reading List #GirlBoss This was the book that started it ALL. We had a long flight- direct from Denver to New York City- and I needed to remain occupied. I bought this book in an airport book store and by the time the wheels hit the runway in NYC, I had almost read the entire thing. Anyone who knows me can tell you that I take forever to read books. I do so right before bed […]

How To Wear Leggings Out + About

How To Wear Leggings Out and About

Grey Sweater | Leggings | Grey Mules | Phone Crossbody (almost identical) | Tortoise Hoop Earrings | Sunglasses (similar) Let me just start this post and say that if Sandy from Grease can essentially wear leggings out about, so can we! I mean… athleisure is here to stay. They may not be leather but they’re comfortable! That, my friend, is something we can all get behind. I am here to attest that you also don’t want to look “sloppy” while wearing leggings out and about either. Unless you’re in college, it’s no longer ok to gallivant around town in your XXL t-shirt atop leggings. Rather, with three simple tricks, you can make leggings presentable. Let’s chat about those now! Three Tips to Wear Leggings Out + About Cover Your Booty This is the fine line when it comes to determining if leggings are okay in public or not. I say, if you cover your rear, you’re good to go! I personally just don’t feel comfortable wearing leggings unless my top features some length. This can be accomplished through a long or slouchy sweater. I love to be comfortable so a long, yet side-slit sweater is a good compromise. The sweater […]

10 Tips to Work From Home (& Be Productive)

10 Tips to Work From Home (& Be Productive)

Goal Digger Sweatshirt | Zella Leggings (currently sold out in Black) | Blue Light Blocking Glasses Working from home sounds like a dream, right? While I am not here to argue that fact, because to me it’s the total dream, it’s no walk in the park. Before we dive in I wanted to clarify WHY I decided to dabble in working from home. Before “going remote” I held a number of positions throughout various industries. From a tech start-up to non-profits, I’ve had my fair share of traditional office jobs. There are aspects of working in an office that you can’t replicate at home such as: co-worker interactions, in-person client meetings and simply learning from how others work. Those aspects, I DO miss every once and awhile. But for me, the flexible schedule is my driving factor in working from home. Something I don’t share about all to often is that Mack serves in the military. With that comes a very inconsistent schedule- that I simply need flexibility to best serve our family. So with that said, here are 10 tips that I want to offer to work from home and do so productively! 10 Tips to Work From Home (& […]

How to Mix Summer and Fall Pieces

How to Mix Summer and Fall Pieces

Eyelet Top | Skinny Jeans (similar) | Grey Mules | Leopard Print Clutch (almost identical) | Sunglasses I never realize how busy our neighborhood is during the summer until school is back in session. The parking is empty, the pool is quiet and the sidewalks are clear of bikers, runners and families. Summer is officially over here on the Emerald Coast- but the weather won’t reflect it for several more weeks! I am often caught between the anticipation of fall (Mack and I are so excited for football season) while we still have the luxury of enjoying the beach! So, where does that leave my wardrobe- other than confused? Let’s chat about three ways to mix summer and fall pieces as we patiently wait on cooler weather here on the coast. How To Mix Summer and Fall Pieces Utilize Summer Staples How cute is this eyelet top? It’s under $40 and so fun! It features a slight cropped length, cold shoulder detail and ruffled statement sleeves. This top is definitely a statement on its own but is balanced by the cotton material and eyelet cutouts. Eyelet is a summer staple but mixes well with a simple pair of skinnies and a […]

What to Buy for Your Dog’s Birthday

What to Buy for Your Dog's Birthday

Dog Mom T-Shirt | AG Jean Shorts | Adidas Tennis Shoes | Sunglasses (similar) Let me just start this post by saying you would have laughed so hard at the looks that Mack and I got during this photoshoot with Rebel and Tiger. Luckily, we have no shame in our #dogparent game and Mack was a good sport even as I tried to pose the doggies. 😂 To every photo you see above, I have about 20 others on my camera that are hilarious. The boys just didn’t understand why our walk came to a stop. But August is a BIG month in our house because Rebel and Tiger have birthdays exactly one week apart. We celebrated Rebel’s 5th trip around the sun on Sunday, and Tiger’s 3rd is coming up this Sunday. With that in mind, and because I am THAT dog mom, I had to share what we gifted them. Since everyday is their birthday (as Mack says) we keep it simple. The only toys that we buy them are GoDog toys. We probably have close to the entire collection at this point. Rebel is so sweet with his toys whereas Tiger… rips them to pieces as quickly as he can. […]
