Clothes with Cause: Citizen&Darling

Clothes with Cause: Citizen&Darling

Citizen&Darling T-Shirt | Long Cardigan (sold out, similar) | Denim Shorts | Leopard Booties | Smartphone Crossbody (almost identical) | Sunglasses Where has this week gone? I swear it was Monday two seconds ago. That’s always how I feel after vacay (even if just for the weekend)! Buuuut, I am excited about today’s post so let’s get to it. If a company marries cause with clothes – that’s something I can get behind! I came across Citizen&Darling at a recent women’s event at a local church. Of course, their setup immediately caught my eye because this girl can’t pass up a t-shirt. But as I got closer, I noticed this t-shirt was more than just a closet staple. Rather with each t-shirt sold, they donate to partner organizations that raise awareness for, and fight, human trafficking. The facts surrounding this cause, and the need for it, are honestly scary. I am glad there are companies and partner organizations leading the charge for change in this realm. So with that, I give you a cute (& super soft) t-shirt along with a way to support something that offers the chance to give back! Do you support any companies with a cause? Leave […]

Elevate Your Clear Stadium Bag in 2 Minutes

Elevate Your Clear Stadium Bag in 2 Minutes

Top | Demin Shorts (almost identical) | Tennis Shoes | Sunglasses | Clear Stadium Purse As you all know, Mack and I have a very alive rivalry in our household! I mean, our doggies even hold our school spirit in their namesake! In case you don’t follow SEC football, Mack loves LSU and I graduated from Ole Miss so we have fun being rivals – once a year! With that being said, we are headed to Baton Rouge on Thursday so I will be signing off early this week. But before we go, I wanted to share with you how I elevated my clear stadium back in 2 minutes and for $0. Give me anything that’s actually free and I am HERE for it! But let’s back up. I haven’t used my clear stadium bag since last year’s LSU vs. Ole Miss game. But with gameday on my mind, I started to search the internet, you know just “window scroll” if you will. But, similar to window shopping, it’s hard to resist the urge to buy. So I came across the literally cutest clear bag ever… with a statement strap that had my clicking “add to bag” without a second […]

Shop Your Closet: Go To White Chunky Sweater

Go To White Chunky Sweater

Chunky Sweater (similar) | Skinny Jeans with Step Hem (almost identical) | Mules | Crossbody Actual thoughts that ran through my head while shooting this outfit in 90 degree weather… “stop trying to make fall happen, it’s not going to happen!” Any Mean Girls fans out there? Just me? Haha real life, I was roasting during this session. Roasting. But we are in week two of my Shop Your Closet series because, well, we ALL have a go-to white sweater in our closet. If you don’t, I linked a very similar option above. A good chunky sweater is great for fall, yes. It’s also great to pack in your tote while traveling, your ride-or-die choice when date night is at the movie theatre (why is it always freezing in there?) and the best for just lounging at home with your leggings on. As cooler months are *supposedly* coming, this outfit is easy to copy with items you most likely have tucked away. And if you’re thinking this outfit looks oddly similar to this outfit, you’d be correct. When it comes to jeans, I really only think you need three pairs max. One good pair of denim skinnies (preferably with a […]

Shop Your Closet: Lace Overlay Romper for Fall

Lace Overlay Romper for Fall

Lace Romper Overlay | Jean Jacket | Louis Vuitton Neverfull (borrowed from Mom) | Sunglasses | LC Lauren Conrad Mules This lace overlay romper may look familiar! I featured this romper over the summer and I am repurposing this closet favorite for the fall season ahead. It is a very realistic thing to shop your closet… we can’t shop all the time. Not even as style bloggers! So, with fall right around the corner, I want to feature a few outfits (over the next several weeks) to suggest a cool-weather spin with items you already own. I hope this will inspire you to inventory your closet and shop it for the new season ahead. First up, this mustard lace overlay romper. Although the mustard color is no longer available, I also adore this romper in “Coral Cedar” and “Green Bug.” Made great for summer styled alone, it’s easy to transition to fall with a signature jean jacket, carry-all tote and neutral mules. If I had to guess, we all have these three simple items already stocked and ready to wear as the leaves begin to change. If you’re heading to a wine festival, harvest concert or date night toward the end […]

Where ‘Em Anywhere Tennis Shoes + Rule Breaking

Where 'Em Anywhere Tennis Shoes

Black Dress | Adidas Tennis Shoes | Sunglasses | Gigi Crossbody (almost identical) I’ve honestly never really been one to follow rules. Like, it was a problem as a child. Ask my mom. She always says, “there’s one in every family.” Which is code for my brother was a perfect angel and I was her problem child. But, we’re past that now thankfully (I think?). Although, I find that other commonly accepted rules such as; “you have to work a traditional job,” or “you can’t eat just fruit for dinner,” or even something like, “no white after Labor Day,” simply don’t apply to me. Can you relate? Luckily, I started watching my Digital Pass to the Create & Cultivate Chicago conference yesterday and I am encouraged by other #rulebreakers who are making their way in the world. Some with defined paths, drawing back to moments of success and other just getting started and winging it. In typical fashion, I have to pause the videos to take notes and since it’s the end of the week, I want to share a few nuggets that I found noteworthy (literally). Takeaways for the “Rule Breaker” | Create & Cultivate Chicago Ask What Can […]

How To Wear Leggings Out + About

How To Wear Leggings Out and About

Grey Sweater | Leggings | Grey Mules | Phone Crossbody (almost identical) | Tortoise Hoop Earrings | Sunglasses (similar) Let me just start this post and say that if Sandy from Grease can essentially wear leggings out about, so can we! I mean… athleisure is here to stay. They may not be leather but they’re comfortable! That, my friend, is something we can all get behind. I am here to attest that you also don’t want to look “sloppy” while wearing leggings out and about either. Unless you’re in college, it’s no longer ok to gallivant around town in your XXL t-shirt atop leggings. Rather, with three simple tricks, you can make leggings presentable. Let’s chat about those now! Three Tips to Wear Leggings Out + About Cover Your Booty This is the fine line when it comes to determining if leggings are okay in public or not. I say, if you cover your rear, you’re good to go! I personally just don’t feel comfortable wearing leggings unless my top features some length. This can be accomplished through a long or slouchy sweater. I love to be comfortable so a long, yet side-slit sweater is a good compromise. The sweater […]

How to Mix Summer and Fall Pieces

How to Mix Summer and Fall Pieces

Eyelet Top | Skinny Jeans (similar) | Grey Mules | Leopard Print Clutch (almost identical) | Sunglasses I never realize how busy our neighborhood is during the summer until school is back in session. The parking is empty, the pool is quiet and the sidewalks are clear of bikers, runners and families. Summer is officially over here on the Emerald Coast- but the weather won’t reflect it for several more weeks! I am often caught between the anticipation of fall (Mack and I are so excited for football season) while we still have the luxury of enjoying the beach! So, where does that leave my wardrobe- other than confused? Let’s chat about three ways to mix summer and fall pieces as we patiently wait on cooler weather here on the coast. How To Mix Summer and Fall Pieces Utilize Summer Staples How cute is this eyelet top? It’s under $40 and so fun! It features a slight cropped length, cold shoulder detail and ruffled statement sleeves. This top is definitely a statement on its own but is balanced by the cotton material and eyelet cutouts. Eyelet is a summer staple but mixes well with a simple pair of skinnies and a […]

What to Wear on a Day Date

What to Wear on a Day Date

Black Scalloped Dress | Glitter Block Heels | Sunnies (similar) | Blush Bucket Bag Summer is coming to an end. First off, how? Second off, I am relieved. It has been HOT. With the end of summer comes the anticipation for fall but before we get there, let’s chat about Day Dates before those sunny days are old news. Day Dates are honestly one of my favorite things, ever. In San Diego, we took an entire day and just explored (see the full travel guide, here) which was essentially a Day Date for us. We rode scooters, sipped mid-day cocktails and I got sunburnt. That day, and memories from it, leave me with a happy heart. In an attempt to bring our Day Date home, we got out last Saturday around noon. We simply went to get a green smoothie (for Mack) and frozen yogurt (for me). We went to one of our favorite local spots, walked around for like ten minutes (before the heat scorched us) and then we headed back home. Although it was short and sweet, it was a welcomed break in the day. When dressing for a Day Date, whether it’s filled with plans or simply […]

Must-Have Black Jumpsuit Under $30

Must-Have Black Jumpsuit Under $30

Black Jumpsuit | Blush Feather Heels (sold out, similar) | Cat Clutch (old, I love this pom option too) | Sunglasses (similar) Sometimes when the heat of summer truly hits, the best opt out is to frequent your neighborhood bar, get a cold glass of champagne and remain in the air conditioning. That’s exactly what we did last weekend with our friends Jamie and Rob. I wore this must-have black jumpsuit (under $30!) and I felt like I was wearing my favorite silk jammies out in public (but it was acceptable). The material didn’t stick to me, hardly wrinkled and flowed nicely in the Florida humidity. I was so happy with how well it wore, I am wearing it this out this evening in San Diego! Although the pink feather heels didn’t make the trip (read why in this post), I packed my more neutral studded heels for the occasion. No matter what your weekend plans entail- whether attending an event or simply sipping happy hour drinks with your friends- this jumpsuit can take you there. Mack and I are in San Diego for our best friend’s wedding and so happy! We decided to fly out a few days early […]

Summer Shoe Showcase

Summer Shoe Showcase

Metallic Loafers | Spotted Slides | Sparkle Block Heels | Blush Feather Heels (sold out, similar) Was anyone else completely thrown off by the mid-week Independence Day holiday last week? I mean, I felt like Thursday was Sunday and it just had me out of my rhythm. This week, we are heading to the California (the O.C. theme song is blaring in my mind right now) so being out of my norm continues. I feel like this is the summer standard and I am SO excited because we are wedding bound. When I first arrived at Ole Miss, I met two friends that instantly became my closest friends. This weekend, one of those friends is tying the knot and I don’t think I’ve been this excited since my own wedding. Seriously. Before we go however, I wanted to share my summer shoes picks quickly. And mostly because I am trying to figure out how to bring the blush feather heels with me to San Diego. See here’s the thing, Mack and I always share a suitcase when we travel so I only bring items that can be worn more than once. Those blush heels are a strong one-time wear so […]
