August has taken on a whole new meaning for me living in Florida… it means that vacation season is almost over as school is about to be back in session. Don’t get me wrong, I understand the benefits of tourism but I am going to be very thankful for a break in the traffic. With school starting soon, we also welcome the back-to-school fashions that are centralized around the idea of leaves turning from green to brown and pumpkin spice lattes in hand! Unfortunately (or not) for me, it’s still 100 degrees and 100% humidity here. So although I love fall just as much as the next girl, I seriously can’t even consider the thought of bundling up at this point of the year. I feel like the last week of July hit and all focus shifted to warm clothes. For me, this space is a reflection of my personal day-to-day life and style, so although I understand it’s essential to keep up with the seasons as they come in the fashion realm… I am going to pump the brakes for now because I don’t think I’ll need fall clothes until about December haha.
However, I am and have always been a very strong believer in clothes and accessories that multi-task and act as transitional pieces that can be worn pretty much at any time. Today, I wanted to share with you all things I can wear now and later- without dying of heat! This will actually carry on throughout the month as I share the idea of pre-fall as reflected in my Friday outfit posts. Until then though, here is a culmination of items that are, in my opinion, good for your closet year-round (except maybe the Tailgate Queen shirt haha that’s specific to football season).
As you all know, I graduated from Ole Miss, through which The Grove brings about a style of tailgating that is actually what I would imagine these new Sunday brunch type weddings to be like. Side note, I LOVE this idea. But because every Saturday in the fall doesn’t include tailgating in The Grove anymore, I will settle for this adorable tee while I sit at home and watch the games. Furthermore, as far as I am concerned, leopard is a neutral, and I wear a watch daily so I can’t wait to wear this now through forever. Next, I live for my jean jacket, I seriously bring it everywhere! It’s no surprise that I can always be found in either ripped white jeans if I am working or running errands (I don’t abide by Labor Day rules as they pertain to wearing white) and undoubtably in leggings while at home. Finally, I like these little peep toe booties as the light grey and wooden heel works well for the summer months with a cute sundress and into fall with jeans and a turtleneck sweater.
The promise of reduced traffic, college football season starting and the fact that I can still swim in the ocean through September has me so ready for fall. What are you most looking forward to this month?
