A highlight of the holiday season often is the never ending gatherings that take place from November through the New Year. After Thanksgiving Day, the parties just keep coming it seems. From themed parties and Secret Santas to more formal gatherings of family or even colleagues, navigating what to wear for each occasion can be a guessing game. With that in mind, I teamed up with Azazie to bring you three tips to select your holiday party attire:
- Read the room (metaphorically speaking): Are you attending a family holiday party or a work function? Reading the room, before actually arriving at the event, is the number one way to determine what to wear. It’s also important to note the location as that can often hint at the vibe the event will offer. Is it in a swanky hotel ballroom? If so, the Rebecca dress would be perfect. If it’s less formal- perhaps at the office or even someone’s home- I would lean more toward the Ayana in Dusty Sage. When appropriate, don’t be afraid to add a little flair of your own as well (hello leopard booties)!
- Consider the temperature: We snapped these photos on a very chilly afternoon here in Florida. It was actually quite shocking- especially the wind tunnel that enveloped me in that last photo haha. All that to say, I was so happy to have a heavy jacket to throw on. I understand that the rest of the country is already well into winter but adding an extra layer adds another level of elegance to any look. Give this girl any excuse to pull out a statement jacket or a faux fur wrap and I am sold.
- When in doubt, overdress: Something I’ve learned in my short 27 years of life is it’s better to be overdressed then underdressed. If you’re attending an event as a guest and maybe don’t know who will be in the room or where it’s going to be when you’re selecting your outfit, err on the side of caution always. Holiday gatherings, no matter what setting, can offer a great networking opportunity. Make a notable first impression and go with something like the Eva dress when you’re unsure. Personally, I always select the color black when I am in doubt of what to wear.
With these tips, I hope you feel confident to select your holiday party attire fit for any occasion! Do you have any holiday parties already on your calendar?
