It seems this week marked the start to winter here in Florida. Over the past two days, Mother Nature decided that we didn’t really need fall so we skipped right on over to chilly temperatures, freezing rain and gusty winds. Mack has been wishing for it cool down and this week, his wish was granted. I even had to turn the heat on because our house was at 63 degrees. With this fact in mind, there’s no better time to bundle up in a comfortable long cardigan, warm denim and booties. I like to think this is in preparation for our Christmas holiday in Denver. We will certainly be greeted with frosty noses upon arriving there! Here are my three tips for styling a long cardigan:
- Keep it simple- Although I run this blog and share clothing items I love, it would unrealistic to think I run to the grocery store in heels and a dress. If I am being totally honest, my day to day looks something a lot more like this look. Comfortable enough to be workout clothes but a little more put together. I love the extra length this long cardigan offers as normal cardigans often hit my torso in a weird way making them appear too short. Not the case with this one and I love it.
- Work with neutrals (this cardigan also come in cream!)– I mention this often but I love to buy all neutrals as they’re easiest to mix and match. And for the record, leopard is a neutral as far as I am concerned (i.e. see booties). After the sale this past weekend, Mack and I went on a decluttering mission around the house. We are tired of having so much stuff. I am finding one way to combat that issue, in my closet at least, is to have less but ensure it can be worn often. Going into 2018, you may see some items reworked as I try to implement this new lifestyle.
- Bundle Up- This long cardigan adds the perfect amount of bundle for a brisk Florida day (which usually teeters around 50 or 60). For our Denver trip however, I will bundle this sweater with a scarf, heavy jacket and maybe even a hat deepening on how cold it really gets! Since this sweater is basically like wrapping up in a giant blanket, I know it’ll suffice in Colorado’s snowy mountains during our ski trip as an extra layer in the cabin!
I think the temperatures are supposed to go up just a tad in time for the weekend (fingers crossed)! Either way, we plan to go to dinner to celebrate Mack’s birthday and also attend Christmas boat parade with friends. I hope you have a great one!
Thank you for spending a few moments of your day with me!
