Can you all believe that it’s MAY? I mean, 2016 is basically halfway over! Where has the time gone? Why does it go faster the older we get? Life questions here, life questions! I hope you all are doing well- I am back from my spring break and better than ever! I am feeling rejuvenated and ready to get back into the swing of things. With that, let’s jump right back in!
I’ve wanted to go to the Kentucky Derby ever since I first experienced The Grove at Ole Miss! I don’t know why I envision the Kentucky Derby to be The Grove on a massive scale. If you don’t know about The Grove, click here. It’s the best place in the world. However, I have a feeling it will be rivaled by a weekend at Churchill Downs. Last year at this time, I was celebrating with the my best friends at my bachelorette party! The location of my bachelorette was kept a total surprise until the morning of my flight and I was CONVINCED that we were going to the Kentucky Derby! To my surprise we went to Santa Barbara instead which was equally as great! My point is I am still dying to go to the Kentucky Derby! This year, no such luck but I will not lose hope. To make matters worse, I recently helped a nice lady in a boutique that I work in who was shopping specifically for the Kentucky Derby. Ohhh did I talk her ear off!
Anyways, in an attempt to cope with the fact that I won’t be in attendance, I put together an outfit guide of what I would wear to the events. Now, like I said, I’ve never been but I feel like I have a pretty good idea of the overall style of the event. In my research, I learned that wearing a large “Southern Belle” type hat is believed to bear good luck. However, in more recent years, the Scala trend has emerged as well. I love both looks! But I always find myself veering toward the classics when in question, so personally I would opt for the hat!
I will leave the horse bets up to Mack and I will simply take in all that the social atmosphere has to offer… next year! Rest assured that I am using one of the 12 Mint Julep cups we recieved from our wedding registry and am toasting you all in attendance from afar!
