It’s crazy to see where this year has taken us! At this time last year we were in the process of a cross-country move and traveling to see family along the way (and we picked up our little Tiger). It seems we love to move around this time of year. I keep telling Mack how much I am itching to go to New York City and then head up to Connecticut to visit family, pick apples, drink apple cider and most importantly eat the apple cider doughnuts from Blue Jay Orchard. However, since we just purchased a home, the timing is not right as we need to get settled and organized here. Therefore, I am desperate to bring fall into my life no matter what the weather may be suggesting in Florida. We did have a recent break from the heat when a “cold front” passed through over the weekend. Temperatures were down in the 60’s in the morning and evening and you better believe I wore a turtleneck sweater to celebrate! This front made me more excited than ever about the weather cooling down. I hope it’s here to stay!
My favorite ways to welcome fall include; watching Hocus Pocus on repeat, carving pumpkins, eat doughnuts for the “excuse” that they taste like this season, and observing the falling leaves and the changing colors. It’s so funny because even though the temperatures are not near as fall as I would like them to be, the leaves are still falling. I am LOVING my morning walks with Rebel and Tiger with the leaves crunching below my feet. Speaking of our new neighborhood, I get to decorate our home with fall decor which is just too fun to even think about! So here’s my plan…
To keep the scent of our new home in-line with the season, I plan to burn fall scented candles at all times! We currently have two candles that are the best but I want to add a few aromas that have a more defined fall scent. See those linked below! Also, Mack keeps the air so low in our home anyways, it’s basically fall temps so I will make use of my sweaters that way!
I am SO excited to add two little white pumpkins to our front porch! I think it will just look so cute. Also, I have a “G” door hanger that was used at our wedding and it hasn’t moved from our front door. I am considering getting a fall wreath to momentarily give the “G” a rest. I think one of the two linked below will look perfect with the white pumpkins. Recently, I picked up some gold mini pumpkins at HomeGoods that I placed in our center bowl on our dining table too. I love that they bring October into our home but still blend in well with the look and theme we are trying to accomplish in our new home. I couldn’t find any mini gold pumpkins so I linked some little pumpkin lights instead! If you live near a HomeGoods, I am sure you will be able to find them in the seasonal aisle.
I am not sure about this yet… but I may attempt to make apple cider doughnuts. I am just not that talented in the kitchen department! I recently saw these stacked cookbooks and they said, “I cook with wine, sometimes I even add it to the food.” THAT is me! I drink wine and pretend to cook while milling around the kitchen eating cheese and crackers. But I think I have to try due to the fact that my apple cider donut craving is at an all-time high. Worst comes to worst, I am going to call the local donuts shop to see if they do seasonal flavors. I am sure they do! Here is the link to the recipe I might attempt however.
I am a sucker for a good blanket to cozy up with on the couch. I don’t sit on the couch without one EVER! One of my favorites that was so soft when purchased, has been overused and is a few years old. The other day, I asked Mack if I could donate it or just lay in on the floor for the dogs and get a new one (Rebel loves this blankey haha!). I linked three that I think would be a good fit for me as Mack agreed. He knows I need a blanket pretty much at all times.
Although I was only able to cover four of the five senses, I think it’s safe to say that it’s too early for Christmas music so I will hold off on that for now. And if I am being honest, I will probably double up on the taste haha Halloween candy is my first true love of this season anyways.
Thank you so much for reading today!
