True&Co. Everyday Collection

In my opinion, being healthy is one thing whereas overall wellness is a totally different ballgame. So, how do we achieve wellness both inside and out? I think that when we feel our best, we can give our best. I’ve seen it play out in my own life… when being stretched too thin leaves me empty and overwhelmed. But as I made a few lifestyle changes, I feel more confident, am able to serve my family, and better equipped to even perform my jobs (yes, plural). With that, here’s how to achieve overall wellness – which keep in mind isn’t a destination per say, but an ever-growing feeling you acquire over time. Just like a fine wine… or at least, I think?

Work/Life Balance is a Real Thing

A buzz statement I’ve heard lately is this, “work/life balance doesn’t exist.” With all do respect to those saying that, I actually disagree. I’ve spent my fair share of time working, grinding, “putting in my time” and even sacrificing family time to climb an invisible ladder to nowhere. I was exhausted and not loving life at that time. Rather than just stick it out… I quit. Did I feel like a total failure? Yes. Did I think everyone thought I just “couldn’t do it?” Yes. But I battled those feelings and eventually reached a point of not caring. For me, working from home was the solution I needed to find to serve my family best. Mack’s schedule is unpredictable and I need flexibility. Bottom line. So I found not one but two jobs that allow me to work remotely and I am not kidding when I say, I LOVE BOTH so much. Although I am super busy at times, I never forget how much more balanced I actually am in these jobs – which I instinctively  knew I needed all along. If you find you’re feeling like work/life balance is totally unattainable, I would encourage you to really think objectively about what you need and what those around you need. It could make all the difference.

Diet and Exercise are “Science”

In January of this year, I started going to Pure Barre class two-three times a week. I instantly feel better after each class. Mack, who is studying for a Masters Degree in Sports and Health sciences, always tells me that “it’s science.” That good feeling after a sweaty workout class isn’t just to look better but actually makes the brain better. Ummm, sign me up for all the brain health! That coupled with healthy eating choices, enables me to feel better physically. When I was SO busy, it was hard for me to justify working out so I didn’t. With my flexible schedule, I carve out time before my day gets started. As I approach the end of almost 10 months of consecutive, weekly, workouts, I am confident my health is in a better place!

Do you workout weekly? It doesn’t have to be Pure Barre class. It can be walking the dogs daily, swimming laps, running, biking… feeling physically fit, mentally makes us better. It never fails!

Look Good, Feel Good

As my business casual transitioned from office business casual to home business causal (a.k.a. athleisure), I honestly feel best when I am in leggings and my True Body V-Neck bra from True&Co. If wearing a bra that doubles as a crop top is wrong, I don’t want to be right. If you follow me on Instagram, I shared that I used to go to T.J. Maxx and buy whatever bra they had on the rack, wear it for a few weeks, hate it and then give it away. I never actually invested in or searched for bras actually made to fit me. As we are about to move into our Airstream, I want to love everything I bring with me (since it will be limited). I tried this bra (and this one, too) and am obsessed. So obsessed in fact, that I ordered four more bras from True&Co (this one here, here, and here in black and nude).  I found that when I feel good on the outside, I feel great on the inside, too! What we put on our bodies matters. And by all definitions, I do not get dressed up everyday. But I feel just as good (& confident!) in this outfit as I do in a dress for date night. This bra is so comfortable and supportive. Two things I can’t beat! Whereas I used to opt for bargain undergarments just to save money, now I realize just how important it is to invest in essentials. Confidence is rooted in how we feel – we have to make ourselves feel good! And we can do it by changing something as simple as a bra. I promise, I did it. 🙂 Oh, and receive 15% off your order with code TRUEIG15.

Although this road map to wellness may not be a one-size-fits-all method, I still want to put my journey out there for you! It is my hope that these tips: (1) Find your version of work/life balance, (2) Get moving and fuel your body well, and (3) Invest in the essentials you wear daily – will help you on the path to feel your best. Some of these tips may seem so simple, but I was missing them for so long. I have a feeling I am not alone in that! And never be fooled… this girl can NOT say no a Reese’s or red wine. #balance

Thanks so much for reading today. I hope you have a great Thursday!
